This year’s focus is all about Cloud Computing and what it really means to all of us. How do you benefit? How do companies benefit? Is it a service or an application?

Just about every small to large company in the communications industry uses some kind of cloud solution today to help run their enterprise operations. They use it for infrastructure and applications (Software as a Service (SaaS)). One of the most well known SaaS companies is Salesforce.com (SFC). Communication providers utilize the lead management, order management, and customer management components of this application and it is hosted and operated by SFC with multiple tenants using the same code base. What are other cloud solutions that providers are using and what's on the horizon?

CenturyLink acquired Savvis last year and now the combination creates a premier managed hosting and colocation provider with truly global scale positioned for leadership in meeting dynamic customer demand for outsourced IT and cloud services. Level 3 is an Amazon Web Services Direct Connect solutions provider delivering private, dedicated high-bandwidth connectivity solutions. Wireless providers have content lockers for pictures, games, and videos supported in the cloud. Apple recently released iCloud which seamlessly integrates applications and content with multiple devices. What strategies do CSP's have for commercial cloud offerings to customers?
